His career has had a meteoric start in 2019 when his single \u201cSomeone You Loved\u201d hit number one in the <em>UK Singles Chart<\/em> for 7 weeks and topped the <em>US Billboard Hot 100<\/em>. He has even recently received a <em>BRIT award<\/em> for \u2018Song of the year\u2019 with his hilariously famous speech last week. His list of achievement seems endless, the outcome of a man who knows how to sell his personality as his brand extremely well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"615\" height=\"409\" src=\"http:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Lewis-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7752\" srcset=\"https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Lewis-2.jpg 615w, https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Lewis-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, despite his success and lovable character, adored by millions across the globe, there are still those who disapprove of <strong>Capaldi<\/strong>\u2019s ways for two main reasons\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lewis Capaldi normalisation of\ncelebrities <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you look up <strong>Capaldi<\/strong> on Google, Spotify or any social media network, chances are you will find the famous images of him topless whilst wearing sunglasses and wrapping his hair up in a towel, like a woman. You would also notice that his hair is always messy, he\u2019s not in particularly amazing shape and he\u2019s very comfortable to discuss his hygiene \u2013 or rather, lack of hygiene \u2013 in interviews. It is very apparent that <strong>Capaldi <\/strong>is not like other celebrities in terms of fashion or attractiveness and he plays to this very well. For most, this is why he is loved so much. His down-to-earth character is what makes him so relatable and lovable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" src=\"http:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lexis3-1024x538.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7753\" srcset=\"https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lexis3-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lexis3-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lexis3-768x403.jpg 768w, https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lexis3.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile,\nit is also the very reason why some people may despise him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former Lead Singer of Oasis, <strong>Noel Gallagher<\/strong>, had a strong opinion towards <strong>Capaldi<\/strong> when he called him an <em>\u201cidiot\u201d<\/em> and said he resembled <em>\u201cChewbacca\u201d<\/em> whilst also calling Scotland a third world-country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Lewis Capaldi Responds To The Beef With Noel Gallagher \ud83d\ude35 | FULL INTERVIEW | Capital\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8Gd1Dkf3V7E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Others have also stated their opinion on how disgusting they find <strong>Capaldi<\/strong>. They disapprove of him because his hair seems unbrushed when he attends prestigious events such as the <em>Grammys<\/em> and the <em>BRIT awards<\/em>. Whilst attending the <em>BRIT awards<\/em> he took a \u201ctoilet selfie\u201d which was deemed inappropriate to some. His stutter is apparent when he performs on stage and is branded by some to be \u2018fake\u2019 and \u2018put on\u2019 since he knows that it\u2019s his awkwardness that captures attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Capaldi <\/strong>has hilariously replied with nothing but love to all this hate. He responded to <strong>Noel Gallagher<\/strong> by having his haircut like Gallagher\u2019s younger brother and coming onto stage dressed like Gallagher wearing a t-shirt with Gallagher\u2019s face in a red love heart. From then on out this made Capaldi even more popular amongst fans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"873\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lewis-4-873x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lewis-4-873x1024.jpg 873w, https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lewis-4-256x300.jpg 256w, https:\/\/startitkbs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/lewis-4-768x900.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 873px) 100vw, 873px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Gender Double Standards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> People on <em>Twitter<\/em> have also shared their opinions on the <strong>Lewis Capaldi<\/strong> image and asked if he would still be loved <em>if<\/em> he was a female. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> A very thought-provoking question that should be talked about. Perhaps <strong>Capaldi<\/strong> was able to sell his personality as a brand so well because of his gender. Stereotypically boys are known to be disgusting and not take care of themselves too well and many can agree that this is generally accepted in society. However, can we say that the same rules apply to girls? Would his ex-girlfriend and <em>Love Island<\/em> star, <strong>Paige Turley<\/strong>, be just as loved if she behaved like Capaldi or is part of the reason why she won <em>Love Island<\/em> because she kept her \u201clady-like\u201d manners and presented herself well? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many believe that if a girl acted like <strong>Capaldi<\/strong> \u2013 overweight, wears informal clothes such as jeans to prestigious events and so on \u2013 girls would be hated and subjected to targeted abuse. We have probably even seen examples of this already happening in the media and online with celebrities such as <strong>Amy Schumer<\/strong>.
